Costa Rica
It takes about six hours flight from LAX but it is a "red eye," leaving at 12:30am(PST) and arriving around 7am(CT). This place has a lot of birds and other wildlife. You cannot beat the fresh fruits here. The pineapple is so sweet; it is like eating candy.

Rancho Naturalista
After going through my images, I forgot to take a picture of this lodge. The rooms are split between the older building and the newer cabins. Being in the building has its perks. You are close to everything: viewing areas, coffee/tea, cookies(or biscuits), and the dining area. The food is excellent. The amount of food is greater than Bosque de Paz. You are not here to lose weight but to see the birds. One thing, I want to add is the ability to see Hummingbirds take a bath at a nearby stream. I have some pictures of the Hummers on top and /or in the water.
