Silverback gorillas

what a big difference between the Chimps and the gorillas. The gorillas are more interactive- curious-social - just more fun to photograph. They will approach you- in some cases- they will touch you.
As we were getting our briefing, there were trackers out in the forest looking for the gorillas. Once found, the location was communicated to the guides so you do not hike aimlessly. It is almost a 100% chance to see gorillas. There were three groups: short(easy) length, intermediate and long distance groups. I was in the middle group. But, our group encountered a family of nine gorillas fairly quickly. You have one hour to be with the gorillas. This was the best part of the whole trip.
I highly recommend doing this. This must be in your bucket list.

  • This is the place to see mountain gorillas in Uganda. There are three countries which share the mountain gorillas- Uganda, Rwanda, and the Republic of the Congo. The permit for one person in Uganda to see the gorillas is $750 whereas it is $1500 in Rwanda.<br />
This is typical terrain you see when heading into the forest.
