Rost, Norway

pronounced- Rust! this is a very remote place. Unfortunately, the only boat tour operator lost his license about one or two weeks before I arrived. I had to hire a fisherman to take me out to the other islands but he told me he hates doing bird tours. At least , he was honest. I managed to see the Atlantic Puffin( Fratercula arctica)
I hired a local bird expert( Steven Baines) who is an Englishman but is a citizen of Norway. He convinced me in less than two hours that there is not much to see on this tiny island. Talk about small- I walked from one end of the island to the other in 1.5 hours while taking pictures. So, I had to look around real hard to find subjects to photograph.

  • These are wooden racks for drying the cod. I was lucky to be here off season or it would have been very stinky. Cod season is in the winter. I was there in the summer.
